Mako in Los Feliz (Japanese eatery)
Landlords put profit over public interest.
Dollars are the bottom line;
Profit margins undermine
Harmony within the community.
Mako was a small Japanese eatery
On Vermont Street in Los Feliz,
Forced out of their space
After 26 years when the owners
gave the lease to a higher bidder.
Mako made money and was often full,
Customers were Loyal,
Prices were low and the food was gold.
Service always brisk
and the chef was a prince.
Mako was a venerable business,
A sacred space for hungry constituents,
Their presence is truly missed,
Landlords put profit over public interest & I’m pissed.
