JAMAL CARTER is a young poet who was born in Los Angeles, CA on February 12, 1992. In his brief 19 years of life, he has felt love, confusion, and experienced many growing pains that come with living. He was in desperate need of an outlet to express himself. MIKE SONKSEN had become a teacher at View Park Prep High School where he met Jamal. There, Mike introduced Jamal to the beauty of poetry. Ever since, Jamal has been tagging along with Mike to different venues and is eager to grow as an artist.
